Oxygen, water and food are being given to the survivors through holes dug through by rescue workers. BILASPUR:    Three labourers have been trapped for more than 130 hours inside a tunnel that collapsed on Saturday night near the hill town of Shimla in Himachal Pradesh. Efforts to rescue them looked promising on Friday after workers were able to contact two of the men. Images on digital camera were the first proof that the men were alive. They also communicated through microphones. It is not known whether the third man survived. Oxygen, water and food are being given to the survivors through holes dug through by rescue workers, guided by disaster response teams and road experts. The tunnel is being built as part of a highway project. Most of the men working on it were able to come out safely when a part of it suddenly collapsed. Falling debris has been setting back the men who are drilling their way towards the trapped workers; the men are likely to be brought out within 24 hours

  The long pending Memorandum of Understanding for the execution of Chandigarh metro has been officially formalised after the ministry of urban development has signed the document and sent it back to the local administration to further initiate the formation of Special Purpose Vehicle.  Punjab, Haryana and UT have already signed the document last month.  The administration has begun the process to form Special Purpose Vehicle that will execute the Rs 12,000 crore mass rapid metro system project with the ministry giving its green signal.  The Special Purpose Vehicle will be called Greater Chandigarh Transport Corporation (GCTC) whose prime job will be to develop metro project connecting Chandigarh, Mohali and Panchkula in the first phase and then further covering other semi-urban areas in Chandigarh to create seamless mobility solution.  According to the MoU, the initial equity of GCTC will be Rs 100 crore that will be equally contributed, that is 25 per cent each, by the

Complaints on social media that a cafe in the popular tourist resort of Kasol in Himachal Pradesh was refusing entry to Indians have prompted authorities to order an inquiry into the matter on Tuesday. At least two posts on Facebook alleged that the man who runs Free Kasol cafe had refused to serve Indians and claimed that the establishment was open only to members. The cafe is mostly frequented by Israeli tourists who visit Kasol in large numbers throughout the year. Stefan Kaye, a British musician based in Delhi, wrote on Facebook he was given a menu when he visited the cafe on Sunday while his companion, an Indian woman, was not served because of her nationality. When Kaye accused the cafe’s owner of blatant discrimination, he responded that he could do whatever he wanted at his establishment.
