Glenn Maxwell Leads From The Front As King XI Punjab

Image
The skipper led by example as Kings XI Punjab sealed a win to start their IPL campaign on a winning note in Indore. He made 44 not out in 20 balls as Punjab beat Rising Pune Supergiant by 6 wickets with an over to spare. The knock contained 2 fours and 4 sixes. Chasing 164 to win, they were in a spot of bother at 85/4 with the asking rate going up. But Maxwell took the bull by the horns to finish it off in his usual slam bang style. It is a good start for him in the tournament and Punjab hopes he can keep the momentum going in the future games.

Chahal sinks England in 3rd 20-20 Match

Image
Leg-spinner   Yuzvendra Chahal   claimed six wickets to demolish England and hand India a 75-run series-clinching win in the third and final Twenty20 international in Bangalore on Wednesday. Chahal recorded his T20 best of 6-25 to help skittle out England for 127 in 16.3 overs. The visitors, chasing 203, lost eight wickets for eight runs in the space of 18 deliveries. The 23-year-old Chahal became only the second bowler in T20 cricket to get six wickets in an innings after Sri Lanka's Ajantha Mendis achieved the feat twice with figures of 6-8 and 6-16. The attacking spinner started England's batting rot in the 14th over of the innings, getting dangermen Joe Root (42) and skipper   Eoin Morgan   (40) on consecutive deliveries to derail the tourists' chase. Root and Morgan had kept the chase alive with their 64-run third-wicket stand but the innings fell apart after their departure. Chahal got three wickets in his fourth over to rip through the England midd...

Chris Gayle, Darren Sammy blast West Indies Cricket Board after lifting second ICC World Twenty20 title

Image
Darren Sammy and Chris Gayle said the West Indies cricket team was disrespected by their own board and dedicated the ICC World Twenty20 triumph to their fans. West Indies skipper Darren Sammy and star batsman   Chris Gayle   slammed the West Indies Cricket Board after   lifting the ICC World Twenty20 for a record second time   at the Eden Gardens Sunday night.  Chasing 156, West Indies were in trouble, needing to score more than 10-runs-an-over for the last 10 overs of their chase. But Marlon Samuels held firm and finished with an unbeaten 85 before   Carlos Brathwaite slammed four successive sixes   when they needed 19 off the last over to put it past England.   West Indies, plagued by serious issues with their cricket administrators, have failed to do anything substantial in the other two formats of the game. Therefore, lifting the World T20 title for the second time meant a lot to their merry band of players, who did n...

West Indies lift the World T20 title 2016

Image
West Indies' Carlos Brathwaite hit England's Ben Stokes for four successive sixes to snatch a thrilling four-wicket win in Sunday's World Twenty20 final as the Caribbean side became the first team to win the title twice.   Needing 19 off the last over sent down by Stokes, Brathwaite exhibited nerves of steel to complete the chase in stunning style and trigger wild celebrations amongst his jubilant team mates who invaded the Eden Gardens pitch. England's death overs hero Stokes was left distraught after failing to contain Brathwaite, who had a memorable night having scored 34 with the bat after earlier claiming 3-23 with the ball to restrict England to a modest total. Marlon Samuels remained not out on 85, playing a key role in reviving the 2012 champions' chase, but it was brilliant Brathwaite's blistering total off 10 balls that saw them home. Put in to bat, England got off to a horrendous start before Joe Root hit a fluent 54 to help the 2010 cha...
