Apple announces Watch OS 2 at WWDC 2015, adds native app support



At WWDC in San Francisco on Monday, Apple also announced the second generation of its operating system for its new wearable -- the Apple Watch. Dubbed the Watch OS 2, Apple has added a number of new features that it hopes will fuel innovation from developers. 
The new features of the OS include Photoface ,Time face, Photo album face and 24 hour time face which shoots at different places while being keyed to your local time.  App developers have been given maximum freedom in the Watch OS 2. It has introduced a user interface called complications. There is also a mode called Time Travel, which works via the digital crown.
A new Nightstand mode has been added. This will allow the watch to charge while showing the time with an added alarm feature. Watch OS also allows for the storage of Apple Pay and Loyalty Cards on the Watch.
Siri has a far greater role in the Watch OS such as the ability to start workouts via the fitness apps that run natively on the app. It can also additionally give directions to mass transit maps which the watch now supports.
Using the Apple Watch and Siri controls Home kit users will be able to remotely control internet of things and HomeKit complaint electronic items in the house. The addition of Native Apps is perhaps the biggest feature of the Watch OS update. It will give developers freedoms like never before claims Apple. Now developers can access sensors like the accelerometer, the microphone and play the audio right out of the watch. 
They can also play short form video on the watch. Health Kit which shows real time heart rate will also be accessible.  The developers can also access the taptic engine and even the Digital Crown which allows them control custom UI elements. The beta is available for developers today but a free public update will be made available in the fall.
