The weather's just perfect for a trip to Manali and beyond. And when you are in the area, a visit to Rohtang Pass is a must. But wait, there's something you need to know before you go there. If you think the odd-even formula has been implemented in Delhi only, you are wrong. A somewhat similar traffic rule is in place on the Manali-Leh highway.

According to reports by Hipp Post and Hindustan Times, the district administration has introduced an odd and even formula on the Manali-Leh highway in a bid to decongest traffic jams on the route. According to this regulation, vehicles travelling from Manali to Lahaul Spiti side would be allowed on the odd dates, while those coming from Lahaul Spiti would be allowed on the even dates.
Started on April 18, this odd-even scheme is undergoing its trial period till the end of this month. The decision was taken in response to the frequent traffic snarls on the route between Manali and Koksar on the Manali-Leh highway, which led to several tourists remaining stranded in the traffic gridlock for hours. Besides, several accidents have also been reported in the past due to the same reason.
However, in emergency situations, this rule can be relaxed, allowing vehicles to move in the opposite direction as well.
