Images of 2nd-gen Motorola Moto E leaked, launch likely in March

The Moto E was launched in February last year. This means now is the time for the successor. So far we haven't heard anything about the 2nd generation Moto E. But looks like as the launch date approaches -- it has to happen in the next one or two months -- some information has started trickling in.
Android Police , a website that covers Android-related news, has apparently received two images (posted above) of the Moto E. If true, it looks like the new Moto E will use a slightly tweaked design compared to the current model. The new device takes the design cues from the new Moto X. It also seems to have a ring around its camera, though it is not clear if this ring has a flash or not. From the photos, it looks like flash is missing.
On the front, the dual speakers are gone. It looks like Motorola will use mono speakers on the new version of the Moto E. However, the front camera, which the current models lacks, is there in the 2nd generation Moto E.
In a break from the recent past, Motorola is holding an event at the World Mobile Congress. It is expected that the company would announce the 2nd generation Moto E at the event.
For now, there is no word on the hardware inside the new Moto E. However, considering the low price it is likely to carry, don't expect much. At best it is likely to have the Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 processor and 1GB RAM. But if Motorola opts for slower hardware, it won't be a surprise.
It is expected that the new Moto E will use Android Lollipop.
Unlike the last year when the Moto E was virtually unchallenged in the market in the first half of the 2014, this time the new phone will face tough competition from devices like RedMi 1S and Lenovo A6000.
Earlier today Motorola revealed that it has sold over 3 million phones in India in the last 10 months. It said that going forward it would continue to sell phones through Flipkart but will also establish some experience centres where people can try and the Moto phones.
