Xiaomi to sell RedMi Note 4G in open sale for 3 days
Xiaomi on Wednesday tweeted that it would sell the RedMi Note 4G in open sale on the coming weekend. This means the phablet will be available on Flipkart to any consumer willing to pay the asking price.
Unlike what happens in the case of flash sales, the buyers will not have to register for the sale and, possibly, there will be no virtual stampede that often accompanies Xiaomi and Flipkart's weekly sales.
"You can purchase your #RedmiNote4G at any time this coming holiday weekend 24th-26th Jan. Don't miss it," Xiaomi tweeted on Wednesday.
The RedMi Note 4G is a phablet with 5.5-inch screen with 720 resolution. It is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor, which has 4-cores and speed of up to 1.6GHz. It has 2GB RAM, 8GB internal storage, rather capable 13-megapixel rear camera and 5-megapixel front camera. The device uses MiUI operating system, which is based on Android 4.2. As the name suggests, the Note 4G supports 4G aka LTE connectivity in India.
In market, the RedMi Note 4G primarily competes against Micromax Yu Yureka.
Until now, the RedMi Note 4G has been sold in weekly flash sales. However, unlike the other Xiaomi phones, the number of units put on sale by the company has been fairly decent. For example, this week on Tuesday Xiaomi sold 60,000 units of RedMi Note. In the last week the number was 50,000.
But while the 50,000 units were sold in little less than three minutes last week, this week the phone was in stock for nearly an hour after it went on sale.
While it is possible that the demand for RedMi Note 4G is no longer hot and Xiaomi is more confident of meeting it in open sale, it is also likely that the company is trying to sell as many units of RedMi 4G as possible before it focuses on the Mi 4 smartphone that will launch on January 28.
